This is a short Vietnamese dialogue between two friends in Hà Nội, Tiến and Hùng,. Tiến has just moved to the city, so he asks Hùng about the weather and what makes this season special.
Through their conversation, you will see how people talk about weather in Vietnamese (northern areas): the chilly Northeast monsoon winds, the gentle gió heo may of autumn, the scent of milkflowers (hoa sữa), the seasonal specialty cốm (young green rice), and the damp, drizzly weather (nồm) that arrives later in the year.
What you will practice:
Asking and answering questions about weather and seasons
Talking about local food and culture
Using northern pronouns: tớ -cậu
Using sentence-ending particles: nhỉ, nhé, đấy
